But still,great novel, in three parts, all three different in structure and style and action. Set in Switzerland, around , story line is about young, beautiful and very smart girl named Silvia, her life with a brutal father that terrorize, brutally beat and abuse all members in her modest family.

Then a murder happens, and it is the end of first part. Second part is about tender love story between Silvia Wonderfully written, but still, I think it is too long, maybe some parts were redundant.

Second part is about tender love story between Silvia and handsome young judge from rich and noble family, her pangs of conscience, her fears The third part is about the ethics of punishment, inadequate laws, judges and lawyers in sentencing and issuing judgments.. The young lawyer is torn between his enormous love for Sylvia and his sense of justice In short, this book of nearly pages is exciting, and if I had some trouble getting the first third, I devoured the rest in three days.

Doamna Lauretz isi privi frumoasa odrasla si un fel de ura launtrica se destepta brusc in ochii ei negri. Hanna si Niklaus schimbara o privire; era o comunicare misterioasa de ganduri. Silvelie se juca nervoasa vu mainile. Ii dau lui Niklaus banii si el n-are decat sa spuna ca am lucrat cu totii ca sa-i adunam. Cand tata va afla asta, se va gandi la noi toti. Dar nu trebuie sa afle ca eu am fost aceea care am dat banii.

E timpul sa ne gandim si la noi. Avea impresia ca in clipa aceea toata familia era impotriva ei. Niklaus incepu sa rada infundat si rautacios. Am ratat prilejul, atunci cand gemenii zaceau sus, ca niste papusi inghetate. Unul din voi ar fi trebuit sa se duca si sa declare ca a vazut cand batranul a deschis fereastra! Asta n-a fost niciodata dovedit. Niklaus avu un ras aproape isteric. Ai mai auzit ca sugarii sa se scoale noaptea si sa arunce cuvertura de pe ei?

Atunci am ratat prilejul sa ne liberam de el pentru totdeauna. O astfel de ocazie nu se mai prezinta. Uita-te la mama. Atata bataie a mancat, ca abia se mai poate tari pe picioare. Priveste-l pe Niklaus. Un infirm!
