The Instructional Leadership section is about dealing with students and staff. Organizational Leadership explores educational equity. Political and Community Leadership takes a deep dive into urban education. Each of those sections contains a leadership seminar. Georgia Southern offers two separate Doctor of Education programs, each with multiple specializations. The Curriculum Studies Ed. The sequential program, built for K and postsecondary educators alike, allows students to take one of the following emphases: Cultural Curriculum Studies; Learning, Development, and Curriculum; or Multicultural and Social Justice Education.

Georgia Southern's second Ed. The latter two don't require leadership certification for entry. The Doctor of Education in Curriculum and Instruction is an interdisciplinary program that requires students to commit to taking 54 units over three years.

Twelve credits come from the concentration; students choose between art, early childhood and elementary, foreign language, language and literacy, mathematics, middle-level, music, science, and social studies education. Some concentrations allow students to study abroad, and enrollees can pursue an optional K-5 math endorsement.

The Educational Leadership Ed. The latter is a certification program for current school leaders and is identical to the Advanced Leadership curriculum except for the addition of a hour residency. KSU has several Ed. The online Ed.

Teachers looking to get into tech leadership can apply to the Certification Track and use their own classrooms as learning laboratories. Both tracks feature nine electives. Therefore, while students must study leadership, planning, law, and policy, they may branch out into public relations, facilities management, economics, and other topics.

For the middle grades, there's language arts, mathematics, or social studies. At the secondary level, they can choose English, math, chemistry, or history.

Finally, the Ed. Students complete field work at partner schools across Georgia. The Doctor of Education program at Piedmont requires students to focus either on Curriculum and Instruction 61 credits or Educational Leadership 63 credits. The cohort-based program features five core components: six units of academic writing, 15 units of research, 12 units of common content, 18 to 20 units in concentration courses covering P education, and a unit dissertation.

Enrollees complete a hour residency. In only two years — without career interruption — you will complete all coursework and dissertation requirements within a cohort-based learning community.

The program meets eight times yearly for intense weekend sessions spanning Thursday through Sunday. Most meetings take place in Atlanta, with a few occurring on the main Athens campus. Summer terms also include a week-long experiential study trip to domestic and international sites. During each summer session, the cohort travels for an intensive week-long educational experience.

Students receive a certificate of completion for their international study abroad upon graduation. Long-term, the program has given me a platform to make a contribution, whether it is in higher education, in private philanthropy, or in other relevant fields.
